Celeration Calculator

Calculate weekly celeration values from your fluency practice data. Celeration measures the rate of change in performance over time.

Calculate Celeration

What is Celeration?

Celeration is a measure of how quickly behavior is changing over time. It's a key concept in Precision Teaching developed by Ogden Lindsley.

Unlike simple subtraction (which shows absolute change), celeration uses multiplication/division to show proportional change. This is called a "times-divide" or ratio approach.

On the Standard Celeration Chart's logarithmic scale, constant celeration appears as a straight line. This makes learning trends easy to see and compare across different learners and content areas.

"Standard" in Standard Celeration Chart means everyone uses the same scales, so a ×1.5 celeration looks identical on any chart.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your starting performance (beginning of the period)
  2. Enter your ending performance (end of the period)
  3. Specify how many weeks the period covers
  4. Click Calculate to see your weekly celeration

Interpreting Results

x2.0Excellent growth (doubling per week)
x1.5Good growth (standard learning celeration)
x1.25Moderate growth (may need intervention)
x1.0No change (plateau)
÷1.25+Deceleration (performance declining)
